the rites of life and war

I am writing this in Chicago, which is slightly different from my normal locale. I am here to help celebrate the marrying of my friend Robin's brother, Dan. Its rather interesting, as I feel I am mainly here on Robin's account - especially since I don't really know her brother that well. I have also come down with a cold, which has made the whole act of appearing to be a social animal rather obnoxious and miserable. I don't have that many philosophical notions bouncing through my head, nor am I feeling that retrospective. To give you some ideas that I am playing with at the moment, consider the following:

-education exists solely as a means for maintaing the Continuity of Culture

-if the world were merely pleasurable, my day would be easy to plan. Same if it were only full of obstacles. It is that the world is full of both equally that I cannot figure out what to do with myself in the morning.

-a horribly paraphrased form of a quote I enjoy.

That's all for now.
